It has been a long time since I posted her probably almost 2 years now but I have a new question. Cleo is almost 14 was diagnosed not quited 2 yrs ago with diabetes has been on N insulin all this time pretty well controlled with her diet and insulin except in the past few days we has noticied a significant decrease in her appetite her blood surgars are 80-189 the last few days but she does not really seem interested in eating at all last night she was laying down to eat. I am thinking it may be getting near the end for her and quite frankly I am dreading making this decision any suggestions on how to to encourage her to eat??

Please tell us more about Cleo! I've looked through posts and the only other Cleo I find mentioned is a member's cat! :)
By her bg's, it doesn't sound like it's the diabetes affecting Cleo's appetite, rather more like some other type of problem. It could be discomfort from arthritis as well as a lot of other "fixable" problems.
Would suggest you get Cleo in to your vet to try to determine what else might be causing the loss of appetite.
We have a lot of people here who have been through appetite problems with their dogs who will be glad to post what they did to solve them. ;)

Sorry to hear Cleo's not feeling well. Refusing to eat is usually a sign that something else is going on so the vet visit is important.
Things you can add to food to encourage them to eat include a little bit of water from a can of tuna packed in water (not oil), lowfat cottage cheese, parmesan cheese, chicken, low or no salt broth, meat baby food... anything she especially likes. Just try to use a minimum amount so as not to throw off the blood sugar.
Please let us know what the vet visit turns up and tell us more about Cleo.
