I am using the U100 BD syringes: 3/10cc, 5/16" length, 31G with Half Unit markings. I know many of you use them as well.
I've had whole bags of these syringes where the plunger goes past the "0" mark when you push it all the way in instead of sitting right at the 0. Sometimes as much as a 1/4 unit.
I emailed BD about this issue and they asked that I keep a sample syringe from the bag as well as the bag they came in so they can track the issue. I've been doing this for several bags out of 3 different boxes and writing how many syringes were an issue. It's been anywhere from 3 to 10 syringes out of a 10 pack bag.
They sent me a box and sharps container to send back to them. I'm going to mail it this week. I told them for a diabetic that is sensitive to even an 1/8 unit change, precision is of the utmost importance and asked that their quality control department please look into the matter so more accurate dosing can be made. They were very interested in the issue.
I just wanted to know if any of you have encountered the same problem with your syringes. Do many of your plungers go past the 0 mark as well?
