Kumbi and I do SO much better testing blood glucose levels when we use 21-gauge lancets that I was totally dismayed, today, to discover they seem to have become unavailable - discontinued!

I had a box of 200 Monolet 21-gauge lancets. i must have bought a very old box off the pharmacy shelf - all unknowing, of course!

We CAN use 25-gauge lancets, but it takes a lot more coaxing to bring the blood drop up with those, and makes a real Procedure out of one, simple BG test. I might have to warm Kumbi's lip to get blood with 25-gauge lancets - this really prolongs the test a lot.

Kumbi has been appreciating the fast testing - I surely hate to go back to the slow kind!

I'm afraid my hopes aren't very high, for finding 21-gauge lancets. I'm hoping SOMEBODY still makes and sells them!

Any ideas or suggestions welcome!

Have you "Googled" 21-guage lancets? I just came up with several sources online, but don't know if any are local to your location. Here is a link to one:

Carol,

I just did the same as Craig...just google '21 gauge lancets' and you will see quite a few online sources from which to order. Of course being in Canada not all will ship outside of the US. You can usually read on their home page to see if they will.

Don't know where in Western Canada you are, but I am in B.C. I am only a few miles from the U.S. border, and going down to Wa. for a chiropractor appt tomorrow. If you are interested, drop me a pm and I can look down there,as I get my insulin syringes there anyway. then I could send them to you. |Let me know

Craig - it's not clear just WHAT is going on here, but here's a note from that link you gave me:

This product is no longer available on our site. Please browse related items.

Another friend sent me a similar link:

Doesn't look like the same as yours. There are pictures of a bunch of different lancets - and it's not at all clear, but I can't find any 21-gauge lancets on that page, either!

So I dropped Walgreens an inquiry on their contact form. My friend IS buying 21-gauge lancets in one of their stores. That's not the same as online; some things are available online but not in stores, and vice-versa.

I received a reply, within about six hours (maybe less) to my inquiry. I'd mentioned a possible need for a prescription, and the letter contained instructions for getting a prescription to their pharmacist - but STILL no answer to the question of whether they HAVE (and sell) 21-gauge lancets!

This sounds like about par for the course, for silly and inconvenient situations. Here I have my hopes up that maybe I an get some 21-gauge lancets for Kumbi, but to be realiistic about it, I'm not in fact sure they have them nor sell them.

I've been working on this most of the day, while pie-eyed and staggering from lack of sleep.

Maybe we'll get lucky and they DO have them. It seems they do ship to Canada - THAT'S useful - if they have the lancets I want!

Meantime, I'm re-practicing my lip-warming techniques, as I might need ot revert to doing that again; too bad, as it prolongs the test somewhat.

I've dropped WAY back on testing for the moment, as Kumbi says he's had enough for a long time to come.

I'm off to bed shortly - if I don't go to bed soon, I may never again rise from the floor after falling off my computer-chair. Or my computer may never work again after I fall asleep once more on its keyboard.

Good night, all!

Kumbi says, DON'T FALL ON ME!
Okay, Kumbi, I won't!
