The vet has prescribed Cyclosporine 1% with corn oil for Sadie's dry eyes. She gave us a starter bottle.

The tech gave us two cards for compounding pharmacies for refills. The tech seemed insistent that only these two were reccomended since it has to be compounded. When I mentioned using 1800petmeds she stated they don't mix it right.

The pharmacies suggested were Wedgewood and RXfixer.

I don't really mind this but am wondering if this is so specialized I shouldn't bother checking at a local compounding pharmacy.

Thoughts?

I use 2% cyclosporine eye drops on several of my pugs. Here in western Canada there are not too many pharmacies that can compund it. It is s sterile procedure that has to be done under a special hood. That is what my local pharmacy told me when I tried to get it locally. I think I would tend to take your vets advice, better safe than sorry It is not cheap, but worth every penny.

RMD, I'm one of the moderators over at k9cushings.com, & kind of an honorary member here. One of the Cushing's forum admins referred me to your question about compounded cyclosporin eye drops. Both of my pups were on compounded cyclo eye drops for quite sometime, I have always had them compounded at Diamondback Drugs in Scottsdale, Az. I know they will ship anywhere in the US for a standard fee, I'm pretty sure. I use Diamondback for practically all of the meds both my boys need, & have never had a problem. They have excellent customer service, & the final recommendation is a number of members over at k9cushing's use them, too.

Hope this helps.
