Dr. Peterson blog on backorders for Caninsulin

Apparently, vets in other parts of the world are having problems getting Caninsulin. In Dr. Peterson's endocrinology blog entry, he says he doubts we will ever see Vetsulin back in the U.S. market.

Interesting article, yet it is my understanding that Canadian vets still start on Caninsulin.

I hope Tami sees it.

Natalie - nice comment on the site. I think it will be very helpful.

I enjoyed the analysis; thought it was quite good. And, like you, I am worried for Miss Soaphie and any other dog allergic to NPH insulins.

I fervently hope Caninsulin will remain available for Tami, and others who care for dogs who are allergic to NPH insulins.

Sigh.

It's a constant battle getting Caninsulin. I currently have 4 bottles on back order - should be shipped beginning of November (ie: any day now????). These orders were placed in September. The two places I am able to order it from only allows you to order two bottles at a time - so that's what I do. Each bottle is about $85 each and lasts about 21 days. Expensive and a pain to get. I'll keep ordering it and stock piling as much as I can.
