We are just getting started - Glad you could join us!

My diabetic dog is Chris, who will be 14 years old at the end of March and has been diabetic since September of 2003.

If you would like to read about the experiences of other people with diabetic dogs, please go to k9diabetes.com's home page (http://www.k9diabetes.com).

I'd also like to add my Welcome to Natalie's! Both of us spent a lot of time at another diabetes message board, so we hope we will be able to share information and have some interesting discussions here.

Lucky's story can also be found on the k9 diabetes home page.

Congrats and good luck with your new endeavor.
I hope that Zip and myself can add a bit to the forum ? he?s coming up on 3 years in this journey.

While registering, I also noted with a bit of chagrin, that I was ? client # 9 ? on the forum.
Those of you in the northeast ( and perhaps the world by now ) will understand this bit of tongue in cheek.

Hey Johanna,

I set up Killian's pic as your avatar - hope that's okay!

You can use the same email address at gmail. I decided to stick with that one rather than generate a new one as I already have three different email addresses!

Congratulations! The site looks great and the forum will be informative, I'm sure. My 13-1/2 year old golden retriever, Jenny, died just 4 weeks ago but NOT from diabetes. She lived with diabetes for over a year. There is no way she could have lived that long without all the great people who shared their knowledge and advice with me.

Although I'll never understand the science behind diabetes, insulin and diet, I hope I can help others sort out problems they might be having with their diabetic dogs.

Happy Birthday to all of us !!!

Thank you Nat for starting this site, and thank you Kathy for your knowledge and links and all of your help "Oh Wise One" over the years all of us have grown and studied this disease, I think it made a better place for pets with diabetes owners to come for help and advise.

And thank you for letting me be a part of this.

Kath, you know I can't get the Birthday Cake in this post, I'd say you go for it.;)

When Nat's internet connection's back stable, she can blow out the candles and cut the cake--nice thing about cyber-cake is there are no calories to it! :p

:) Thanks! :)

It's hard to believe it's been a whole year! I never expected to start a website or a forum when I first started researching canine diabetes way back in 2004, but it's been a very rewarding experience for me and I meet the nicest people!

By the way, I'd like a margarita with my cake....

Congrats (yikes - belated!) on your first anniversary (same day, a dearly beloved friend diabetic dog died - of kidney failure -so this is in memory of Spud (not here on the forums, but Kwali and Kumbi served as Models For Spud - for injections and BG testing).

We are in mourning, but how appropriate to have your forum's first anniversary on the same day - a comfort for Spud!

I have pitchers for LARGE amounts of - margaritas - or - units of Vetsalin [sic] or Novalin [sic]

http://www.coherentdog.org/vek/pitchonelit.php

and use Prev and Next buttons to find related stuff(ing)

Since I can't post the picture here, |'m making it available [grin]
