  • Coupon for Free Meter

    Hi all,
This is the second week in a row our Sunday paper has offered a coupon for up to $20 off a OneTouch UltraMini, OneTouch Ultra2, or OneTouch UltraSmart meter. My mom also found this coupon in her paper in IL.

The OneTouch UltraMini runs around $18 at most stores, so the meter is free with coupon.

It's worth taking a look in your coupon section to see if it's there and donating it if nothing else. My coupon expires the end of Feb.

Thought I'd pass on the info.

Hi Patty, with this coupon you probably have to buy 100 testing strips in order to get the meter free! The are not making money on the meter, only on the testing strips.

You would think so, I know. But, I took my coupon to Wal-Mart last week and picked up an UltraMini for free.

        Re: Coupon for Free Meter

I wound up at one point with two OneTouch Ultras and a OneTouch Ultra 2 for a total cost of about $30! The OT2 was completely free after a rebate and the second OT was some tiny amount of money.

I haven't priced meters lately but I hope there are still great bargains like that out there. They know you're gonna have to buy the strips once you buy the meter and that's where the real cost of testing comes in.

I was surprised when I looked recently at how inexpensive the OneTouch UltraMini is - I'd be interested to hear how the quality of the results measures up to the regular OneTouch, which always worked well for us.

One of these days, I'm gonna test Jack's BG... just out of curiosity. At least I will if he grows out of his Mr. Wiggly stage.

          Hi Natalie,
I picked up a second Mini for free this week and will probably donate that one.

It was a no brainer for me because I have a OneTouch UltraSmart so it uses the same strips.

I've had my UltraSmart verified several times with the lab and it pretty consistently tests 28 points lower in the low ranges (I add 28 points to numbers 79 and below) and 47 points in the mid and high ranges.

The UltraMini I've found is 2-6 points higher than my UltraSmart so not too far off from my other meter.

How do I get this coupon? My dog MAX has been diagnoised with Type 1 diabetes + being anemic. Actors & Others is paying for his vet bills and Cause Fur Paws.org is paying for his insulin/syringes plus gave me $100 towards a meter. So now I need to get a meter.

You do realize you are referring back to a six year old post? Monitor makers often offer free meters to diabetics. They figure they will give a free meter, and then you will be buying their test strips. I just Googled "free blood glucose monitor" and this one came up:
              http://www.onetouch.com/offers?utm_c...ose%20monitor#

I wouldn't tell them it's for a dog, but fill out the form for yourself?

Of course you could BUY many meters on Amazon for $15-$30.

Thanks for the link! I got this link to you guys through a PCH search and so I didn't know that it was an old ad.
My dog MAX is a rescue dog that his mom, sister and himself were found left in the streets of Desert Hot Springs, CA. Mom * sis found a home and I got MAX when he was six months old. He is a bensenji mix and now is 7 yrs old. One month ago I took him to the vet and they diagnoised him with Type 1 diabetes and that he was anemic. When I took him to the vet he was skin and bones and now that he is on 7 units twice a day of insulin and a high fiber diet he now weighs 35#'s. Ist visit with the vet he weighed 22.5 #'s. He looks and acts a whole lot better. He is my baby boy and I will do anything for him! Because of his diabetes he has catarcts in both eyes and the vet says that it costs $4500 per eye for surgery. So I guess that he will be blind. I'm on SSI/SSA.
