Re: Kitty Katie - July 1996 - July 2, 2014

Natalie,

This is really sad news. I am sorry for your loss and for you having to go through all the difficult emotions that follow. It's so hard to do everything possible for our pets and have to...

Re: MAGGIE...Kevin's New Rescue

Thanks Barb! I will order that and give it a try. I did not know about this or the spray that Patty mentioned and I'm surprised my vet didn't bring it up because she knows how Maggie is. Any...

Re: new here with a newly diagonised dog. question about insulin

Thank you Carol for coming up with that fancy name....LOL! I just couldn't think of Somogyi rebound! I just googled it and it showed a couple of charts that look exactly like Chino's, with a huge...

Re: MAGGIE...Kevin's New Rescue

Hey Patty,

Thanks for the link. I never thought a Kong might help but I'm definitely willing to try. My regular vet suggested brushing and kind of smiled when she mentioned it...ha ha! Maggie will...

Re: Kevin's New Rescue.....JOEY!

Thanks Patty!

Joey's pressure in his right eye went down from 34 to 23 and in the left eye from 24 to 21. So I was expecting to add Dorzolamide drops to the regimen, but his opthamologist wants to...

Re: new here with a newly diagonised dog. question about insulin

Hi,

I'm a visual person so I made a graph of Chino's BG curve taken on 11/01/13:

I used the information you posted, and it...

Re: new here with a newly diagonised dog. question about insulin

Jesse has a very good point. I just wanted to underscore that if you reduce the insulin tonight, it would be prudent to reduce it by one unit, (from 3u to 2u) rather than give Chino just 1 unit which...

Re: new here with a newly diagonised dog. question about insulin

Generally, the human meters run a bit high. I know people here have suggested comparing your meter with the actual LAB value from a blood draw rather than with the vet's meter, unless they are using...

Re: new here with a newly diagonised dog. question about insulin

Okay, so I still can't remember the name of the phenomenon, but I believe it has a fancy name, however, I do remember the mechanism. If the insulin dose is too high, it brings the blood sugar down...

Re: new here with a newly diagonised dog. question about insulin

Hi,

I forgot to ask if you could post his numbers for the curve you did two days ago? It would be helpful to see his highs and lows. There is a diabetic state and I'm blanking on the name of it...

Re: new here with a newly diagonised dog. question about insulin

Hi and Welcome!

I have never used Vetsulin and really don't know anything about it, but I know some here have made that switch to Novolin N. I always used Novolin N for Ozzi, and the basic rule of...

Hey Peggy,

GREAT to hear from you. I still think of you and Forbes often.

Regarding Maggie's thyroid, I actually had it tested twice because I didn't believe the results of the first test...ha...

Re: Niki's story-- Final Chapter 1997-2010

Dolly,

I have Ozzi and Abby's ID tags on my key chain. And I still have all of his glucose curves on my computer...I don't know why, but I can't press 'delete.'

Re: Patty's Ali - my precious, beautiful angel

Patty,

It IS hard to part with things that belonged to our little ones. To be honest, I still have Ozzi's unused syringes. I don't really know why, but I cannot give them away. It's kind of ironic...
