Re: My Dog Pip

So glad things went well with the new vet! I never thought of using the numbing cream for testing - I'll have to try it. Sounds like you're on the right path in making some progress with Pip.

Re: Little Victories

You're so right Pam. I try to appreciate every day that Daygo plays and wrestles with his "sisters" and I know he's feeling good and having a good day. That little min pin smile makes all the work...

Re: Daygo - Switching to NPH

I'll try giving him the snack and see if that helps. I'm wondering if he's still hitting that low about 4 hours after his shot and I'll do some checks around that time to see where he is. Most days...

Re: Switching to NPH

Forgot to mention that I checked my meter with testing at the vet the last time and my meter was 43 mg/dl lower than their blood draw. I got 80 on my meter and their result was 123. I have been...

Re: Switching to NPH

Thanks for all the help. I do home test him so I will keep an eye on him during the switch. His last weight at the vet a few weeks ago was 16.6 lbs.
I'm thinking that I will probably start the NPH...

Switching to NPH

With all of the issues with Vetsulin, my vet has agreed that switching Daygo to NPH is the best option. I'm really confused about the dose I should start him on. He's on 6 units of Vetsulin 2x a...

Re: Vetsulin - FDA Warning

Thank you for getting this info out to us! I wonder if this is limiting supply already and that's why the last bottle I got was $51, a $10 increase. My vet
doesn't use NPH at all. I think they...

Welcome Shylow! As a fellow min pin owner I know how much of a challenge you're facing. Daygo was diagnosed in April, and so far we have been very lucky to not have too much of a problem giving his...

Re: "Brand New" to owning a diabetic dog, questions about diagnosis and recovery time

Hello Kaela!
Mocha's symptoms and diagnosis sound just like Daygo's story. He was losing weight and vomiting and in ketoacidosis when we took him to the vet.
I know it's scary, but within just...
