Re: Hattie

What kind of insulin is she on? Most dogs are on a twice a day schedule. My little guy is a MinPin - he's been diabetic for 4 years. He gets fed and receives insulin injections every 12 hours.

Re: Bagel joins the group and Mommy is melting

Check her for ketones today if possible. It takes 15 seconds. If there are no ketones in her urine that is great, but if she does register ketones it can be a very MAJOR issue. I'm sorry that I am...

Re: Daygo - Switching to NPH

Also, maybe you can add benefiber to Daygo's food, that should help even out the processing of the insulin as well. Maybe Natalie can weigh in on this thought. She might have insight about if it...

Switching from Vetsulin to NPH

I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in documenting their switch from Vetsulin to NPH on the forum? I plan on doing that and creating a set of documents to pass along to vets once I am...

Re: ASPCA Alerts public of FDA warning on Vetsulin and makes recommendations

I had a dog with skin/fur issues (not Jory) and it was a direct result of feeding and watering her out of plastic dog bowls. When I switched her to stainless steel, the problem cleared right up. ...

Re: Switching to NPH

Re: Vetsulin supply

Make sure that you monitor your dog closely while you continue on Vetsulin. The bad vial that I had was purchased from Pet Meds. At first I thought it was an issue with their control of the...

Re: Greyson - Now I'm only intermittently mildly terrified!

I cook chicken and veggies for my dogs all the time. I boil or bake and then you can cut into small pieces or run through a food processor. If you are going to do this regularly, I would definitely...

Re: Bagel joins the group and Mommy is melting

I wanted to add a bit of information about the ketones. You can buy ketostix or diastix separately or together. I got the combo kind online very reasonably. It was much cheaper than paying the vet...

Re: Bagel joins the group and Mommy is melting

Because of the recent issues with Vetsulin, it may be easier to regulate with an insulin you can count on. Try to keep your routine the same every day and it will be easier to regulate. I had a bad...
