Re: From Jan (Dazzle's owner)

Hi Bonniel,

Re: From Jan (Dazzle's owner)

Hi Jessy,

To answer your question, Dazzle had a blood test (as did both Toppa & YoYo) at the beginning of March and all three had "normal" resuts...

From Jan (Dazzle's owner)

I have been off the list for almost 6 months because, believe it or not, I've been in hospital since 25th October 2011. I had an operation which was followed by just about every complication that can...

Re: Dazzle - Border Collie with Diabetes & EPI

Hi Carol,

No I guess it's not as bad as it could be but the last two curves were really good - and the fasting tests in between the curves were equally good. I just don't understand why she...

Re: Dazzle - Border Collie with Diabetes & EPI

That's a good thought. Dazzle always has a very grumbly stomach specially after eating. That started when she had chronic pancreatitis so I've just always put it down to that.

Maybe heartburn...

Re: Dazzle - Border Collie with Diabetes & EPI

Dazzle had the TSH done as well as the Free T4 when she was diagnosed. Her T4 was too low to register (<2) and the TSH was really high (can't remember the figure off hand).

I know there is a...

Re: Dazzle - Border Collie with Diabetes & EPI

Sorry to hear this. How well controlled is Syd's hypoT?

I wonder about the thyroid because when they tested it a month after diagnosis her T4 was 43. Last week when they did the ACTH it was down...

Re: Harry - Possible Toe Amputation

Dogs are revolting aren't they when they're left to their own devices. To them, vomit, poop etc is a viable source of protein. Obviously he is half starved so has to get it where ever he can. :D

Re: Dazzle - Border Collie with Diabetes & EPI

I did a curve yesterday and I'm really disappointed. I really don't understand why her numbers have gone back up so high.

I guess I'll have to phone the vets again tomorrow and see what they...

Re: Annie - Getting too smart!

I buy the FSL strips on Ebay and I did check the date when I got the first box. Both the AT & FSL are made by Abbott as Natalie pointed out to me a couple of weeks ago. The strips even have the...

Re: Help required with dogs diabetes

I agree with Craig about the Alpha Trak. It is the best meter for dogs but is expensive - not just the meter but the strips as well.

However, if you did decide to go with that meter, you can get...

Sorry, didn't see your second post before I answered the first one!

Re: Help required with dogs diabetes

Hi Susie and welcome,

Nice to have another Brit on the forum.:D

In the UK, vets tend to monitor diabetes using the fructosamine test which gives an average over the past 3 weeks. I don't agree...

Re: Harry - Possible Toe Amputation

YoYo lost his toe on the front left leg - second toe from the centre if you see what I mean. I think that is a weight bearing toe.

You're right though, if Harry is in pain and lame, much better...

Re: Dazzle - Border Collie with Diabetes & EPI

It's not easy to measure with 5 dogs but it is more the number of times I see her at the water bowl that makes it obvious she is drinking more than normal. I have a 12" diameter bowl that I used to...
