I haven't had a diabetic dog in 5 years and now have adopted another diabetic schnauzer. I am having a total brain snap on what needles to get. I know I used BD Ultra Fine and then from there I forget. Can someone share a picture of your bag or help me figure out what I need to buy. We will be using Novolin N. 31gauge or 30gauge, which one was finer? Thanks! Carla

Re: Needle help
Another Schnauzer mom!
I use the Relion 1/2mL (doses up to 50u) 31 gauge short (8mm). The 31g is a finer needle than the 30g. They run about $12.48 for 100 at Walmart . The Novolin N is $24.88 at Walmart as well.
Hope this helps!Daisy 12 1/2 y/o 20lb Mini Schnauzer - 115g chicken breast, 45g chana dal, 55g green beans all chopped in a food processor, 20g Hills Perfect Weight, 1 tbs pumpkin, 8 units Novolin N q12h. Other meds-1/4t d-mannose twice daily, 1 Proviable DC daily, 1 multivitamin, 1/4t ground eggshells each meal, 1200mcg methyl B12 daily, 5mg zyrtec daily

Re: Needle help
KUDOS to you for rescuing another diabetic pooch!!
Your BD Ultra Fine was likely a 31 gauge.
Yea, BD's Ultra Fine is a 31 gauge. As DD10 said, the Walmart ReliOn product is much cheaper and just as good.
