Re: Magoo at ER Not eating Need Help

Thanks for the encouragement, Magoo is MUCH better, Ate his dinner last night great and got his full insulin. He was active, barky, and playful in the afternoon, slept well last night and seems good so far this morning. Praying it continues.
Mr. Magoo, 10 yr.old Morkie, diagnosed 2/2/16. 3U Vetsulin once a day. Royal Canin gastro wet food.

might have just been a mild pancreatitis episode

sometimes the pups know better than us and when they need to fast and not eat

        glad magoo is feeling better

VERY ODD. Magoo usually runs a little higher than he should. I check both his urine and do blood tests (when I can get any blood). Just tested him and he is N ketones and N sugar in urine and 130 on the blood test. He ate about 2/3 of his food this morning and I gave him about 2/3 of his insulin at 7:30. He is never this low at this time of day. It might be the meds he is on. I just gave him a little food but am worried about his dinner. I think I will lower his dose some as I don't want him too low over night. I will try another blood test but not always successful. He is just fine now, active and barky. Did not show any signs of a hypo. Any thoughts much appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Magoo at ER Not eating Need Help

possibly medication . maybe pancreas issues or other organ malfunction during this episode not eating but probably the biggest thing is the inconsistency in eating . ONce evrything settles things may return to normal or this maybe a new normal

just one number gives very little info on overall trends

if numbers are lower than what your comfortable with lowering the dose maybe prudent

Some meds do cause lower numbers. When Maggie was put on both apoquel and anipryl, her numbers were much lower. Every time something changes, it can cause blood sugar to go up or down.

I think lowering the dose is a good idea

Magoo is gone... October 6, 2016

I am so sad to report that Mr. Magoo went to the Rainbow Bridge on Oct. 6th. He had stopped eating and after an ultrasound and discussion with a specialist and our great vet, we decided that he was suffering. There was just too much wrong to save him. I have cried and hurt terribly over the past few weeks. He was the sweetest little guy ever. Never met a person or a dog or cat he didn't love. He even made friends with a baby deer when we lived in Cleveland. He died in my arms and I will miss him every day of my life. Thank you all for all the help, advice, and kindness over the past six months. I appreciated all the help!

Oh no... I'm so sorry. I know how hard it is to accept that this battle can't be won after you have won so many before. It's a brave and kind and very painful decisions.

Magoo was such a cute boy. I have always had medium to large dogs, but since spending time at the local shelter, I have become very fond of the little ones.

Sending you a hug and a kiss skyward to Magoo,

                          Natalie

                              • I'm so sorry to read of Magoo's passing. It so hard when it's time to say goodbye, but I'm glad you had the support of your family and your vet so you didn't have to make that hard decision alone. Your love for eachother was strong, and I'm sure he was comforted to be in your arms. I hope that the good memories of Magoo and the love he had for life will bring you some peace at this time of great loss.
Keeping you and your family in my thoughts, and sending a kiss skyward for sweet Mr. Magoo.
