I have been trying to get everything straightened out with my rottie Dutch's diabetes in another thread posted everyones been helping out great.
I have another rottie, Sophie. She is a really fun dog, really intelligent, has a TON of energy, loves to run, loves to play with toys, and her and dutch are good friends. She seems like a really healthy dog, never has any problems. She was really small as a puppy kind of runty. She is built smaller then my male Dutch, but now she has kind of been getting on the chubby side the past year or two despite her high activity. She is around 4 years old.
Since I've been so busy testing Dutch all the time recently, I decided to test Sophie just for fun. Her blood sugar was at 64 mg/dl.
I thought well what's normal blood sugar supposed to be at? I know dutch gets a little uncomfortable when it starts falling below 100 and when it gets around 50 or below he definitely gets dopey. Sophie shows no signs of any kind of problem.
The only thing with Sophie, is she always is sniffing out food, whenever I got food, she lays her head on my lap and drools all over me and when she gets really hungry, she lets me know by harassing me and barking at me, or dancing around in circles. (she does this when she has to go to the bathroom too.) She scarfs her food down pretty fast. Whenever I take her for a walk she runs, we never really walk, we pretty much full out sprint everywhere...she can't help it...
... We have chickens, and I noticed that sometimes her having to go out has become just a hunt for chicken... doo. She has a nasty habit of scooping up chicken doo everytime she comes across it before I can even notice.
But anyways... Do you think this is safe for her? She got her meal a little late today and it was a little over 12 hours since she had breakfast at 6:30 AM.
