  • Re: Annie - Getting too smart!

So glad Annie is doing well! Great advice about seeing a specialist - Gigi's vision has been going down hill super fast and we grabbed the last appointment availble until mid-June with our local specialist recommended by our vet. Eye health is soooo important.
Gigi - 11.5 year old Jack Russell/Beagle mix - dx 11/11, hypothyroid dx 8/23/12 | Insulin: Novolin N | Frequency: 2x's per day | Dosage: 4-5 units, depends on the day | Blood Glucose Meter: Alpha Trak 2 | Typical BG Readings: 100-200| Regulation: Doing great! | Celebrating 11 years together, 3.5 of those as diabetic |

No change, as is expected. As I mentioned yesterday, the vet says if there is any sight improvement, it might take a month or longer. She goes back for a checkup in two - three weeks.

She has her normal appetite, ate dinner and breakfast without any delay. Her BG was "normal" (128) at this mornings fasting test. She was 364 at pre-dinner last night, but I gave her pretty much her standard insulin which seemed to bring her back into a good range.

                    I think everyone is happy:
Annie is on fewer eye drops, she dislikes eye drops more than blood testing.
I'm happy because there might be a vision improvement.
The vet is happy because she can make her Maui vacation condo mortgage payment!
Annie was an 18 pound Lhasa Apso that crossed the rainbow bridge on 10-5-17. She was nearly 17 years old and diabetic for 9½ years.

                      Tks Craig

Obviously no pain if she is eating normally and pretty good numbers considering what she went through.

I chuckled at your remark about the mortgage payment on the vet's condo in Maui. I pretty well feel the same every time I go to the vet and makes me think I chose the wrong career path.

                      Extra hug for your girl
