Re: Who took their dog to a specialist? Advice?

Changes in her night behaviour indicates something, and it could be pain which cause the pacing.
I'd have a vet do some poking and prodding to see if there's any obvious pain he can produce.

If it's a tummy issue, have the vet tell you the right dose of Famotidine to give.
Riley, 8 yr. old maltipoo, 25 lbs., diagnosed Feb 2017, taking thyroid meds, had pancreatitis and DKA mid March, eating Wellness Senior formula can food. NPH dosage now at 9.0 units Humulin N. Adding either pumpkin, spinach, blueberries, yams, or green beans to his food. Also omega-3 oil.

It went away again. She's been sleeping alright. I hate having to bring her to the vet for these vague symptoms. All they can suggest is to run another full panel of labs on her every time, urinalysis, etc. etc. We walk out with a $400-500 bill, and often few answers.

I thought maybe it was a uti, speaking of, do any of you use d-mannose and cranberry supplements? I'm reading that they can be helpful for keeping uti's at bay. But I was wondering, are they safe for diabetics to take? All of them seem to have invert sugar as an ingredient.

I use the NOW d-mannose, the cranberry seems to spike my Daisy. She used to get one UTI after another but they have subsided greatly using the d-mannose.
I use about 1/4t in the morning and again after the last bathroom break of the evening.
The sugar in the d-mannose processes through the body very quickly, eliminating a spike in glucose.
