    Great news Jim , Im sure youll have your family home with you very soon, and in good health. MJ is a blessed to have such a wonderful husband, and Spirit such a wondeful daddy.

    Pippa; Westie, diagnosed 17th April 2012 at 6.5 years old, 8.7kgs, 6.8 units canninsulin bd, Burns high oats food . Lives with George 9 (Black lab), Polly 19 (cat) and Basil 15 (diabetic mog for 5+ years). Im Jen and we live in West Wales where it rains too much!

      That's such great news, Jim. Hoping for a speedy and uneventful recovery. Best wishes to you all.
      Jane and Franklin, 8 years, maltese, currently 6.4kg, Australia. Cushing's with elevated hormones dx'd 2009/2010, proteinuria, epilepsy, diabetes dx'd July 2012. Phenobarb 30mg bid, 3mg melatonin bid, lignans sid, caninsulin 4.8u bid (a work in progress). Diet- home cooked. Blind from cataracts January 2013, sighted from surgery February 2013.

            MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIENDS. We are back home all snug next to the fire and spirit has visions of WD biscuits dancing in his head. I am so thankful for many things including all of my friends here on this wonderful forum. God bless you all. Having my lovely wife home, my dog happy is more than I could ask for this year. All is good!!!!

                Anne-Marie and CJ Westie , Born 13 Jan 2004, dx May 2012, Weight 9.5kg, 6 iu Caninsulin Twice daily. Mixture of food - baby formula and mixture of chicken and vegetables . 4-6 feeds a day due to pancreatitis which is under control.

                      A little late but wanted to give a big cheer for your wonderful update. Hope you and Mj and Spirit had a wonderful Christmas and that 2013 brings nothing but good news!

                        Going to the vet today for spirits CBC, he gets one done 2x per year. I'm going to discuss this bit of leg trembling every now and then. I thought it might be due to low or high blood sugar but that isn't it. It doesn't happen everyday but occasionally when he is sleeping his leg is trembling a bit and I noticed it when he gets in the car for his walks occasionally.....maybe he's just so darn excited.

                        I want to make sure it is not a sign of cushings or addison's since I think I read somewhere that may be a sign but he has none of the other symptoms. Still on low dose of insulin 15 units day / 16 night and in a very good range with his BG most of the time.

                        We are all going to Saginaw on Friday to get the results of MJ's pathology report and have her first post op check up. We're praying for a clean pathology and if so she will be cancer free!!!! MJ is already talking about how soon she can leave for Florida, lets hope in a few more weeks we will escape the snow.

                                Hi all,

                                First things first....MJ got a call from her surgeon who told her that her cancer was Grade 1 (good news) and the lymph nodes came back clear....YEA! This means she will need to do check ups regularly for the next 3 years but no radiation or chemo at this time.

                                Now spirit......He did all the bloodwork in his lab and checked for any sign of cushings or addison's and all spirit's blood work came back in the normal ranges and the rest of the CBC was all normal. The better news about spirit was the eye specialist checked him and said there are absolutely no signs of cataracts or glaucoma and his eyes are normal for a dog his age. What luck he had a specialist in today from out of town.

                                I guess spirit is one of those dogs who just need less insulin and no real explanation why. While we where talking about insulin he did tell me that many of his diabetic dogs are having regulation issues with Novalin but he believes it will be temporary and the dosing may change for them but they should get regulation again. This prompted me to buy the last 2 bottles of humulin which will keep him on that till we get back from Florida in April. I would rather deal with the change in warm weather than in the winter or while on vacation. The vet wanted a curve today and even that was wonderful, here it is:

                                123 fasting, 5 a.m. (15 units)
                                175 8a
                                103 10a
                                101 12 noon
                                80 (2:00 after walk) gave one medium milk bone
                                153 4:00

                                All in all it is a FANTASTIC day. I AM BLESSED BEYOND BELIEF AND SO VERY GRATEFUL FOR THE WONDERFUL NEWS. Thank you all my prayer warriors for the warm thoughts and prayers during the last several weeks.
