I totally agree with everyone saying that 9 units is way too low for a dog of that weight, his BG will not go down, as you can see by the numbers, with such a low dosage for a dog his size. My dog was 69 lbs when diagnosed and then lost 10 lbs was started at 15 units, then slowly went up. He weights 61 lbs now and is on 22 units twice a day. Not that all dogs at the same but that is too low of insulin to lower his numbers. And what bothers me is the Vet should know this!

Hello and congratulations on how much of a grip you've got on this already so soon after diagnosis! You're way ahead of where we were at the equivalent time after diagnosis.

We also get a "mountain" curve instead of a "bowl" curve with our dog and it is quite useful as you can check the low point before feeding and tweak things if there is any sort of extreme number.

Like Cadbury, our dog lost a lot of weight around when he was diagnosed and it just gradually went back on as he slowly got regulated. He was very lethargic and more or less just slept for several weeks as his body adjusted to it all but did get back to normal after that.

Eddie - Lab x golden retriever. Weighed 63lbs. Ate Canagan. Diagnosed October 2012. 13units of Caninsulin twice a day. Had EPI as well as diabetes. Died 20 June 2017. Loved forever.
