Unfortunately, no other 4 legger.

Savannah was one of 3 labs my next door neighbor had when Otis was a puppy.
It was a neat relationship she had with O. From day one, her mothering instincts kicked in and she acted like his mom until they moved about 2 years later. I dropped him off to spend the day there many times and those two were inseparable. She would "lay the law down" to the other labs if they were playing too roughly with O. She adopted him and really enjoyed being his "mom".

Visited the website of a local Pug rescue group and filled out an application to foster for them.
Dangerous though, ... because knowing me, I'd likely end up keeping the first one. I'll see how that moves along.

You'll end up fostering four and end up with quadruplets....not that there is anything wrong with that

Thinking of you...

Bill, I am running to work, but wanted to respond quickly. Whenever I have been in such a place I have ask my departed to send me the animal I am supposed to have. Then for my part I need to be in tune with wether that animal is really the one I am supposed to have or if it is just filling the gap. Tough to see the the difference sometimes.

I LOVE that you will foster! I wish I could, but my husband isn't of a mind where he can let them go. When they are here they are family.

Fostering sounds like a great idea. Maybe providing a bit of healing for you and another pup in need. Otis would be proud!

Tried to broach the fostering subject with the husband but he knows his wife and daughter well enough to know if we brought a dog into our house, it would never leave. Suppose he is right thought I don't think it would be a bad thing. Have been working the puppy angle for awhile now and think he's coming around. Fingers crossed!

Bill,

I think that dangerous act, is a wonderful one. I know that the Big O leaves a Big hole in your heart, and he will always be there, perhaps directing you to that adoption application.

Thinking of you,
Barb

I think it's lovely that you plan to foster.

We fostered one and managed to re-home him to a lovely lady within about 5 days. The next one arrived about 4 years ago and is now growing old peacefully here......it's a slippery slope - but very rewarding whichever way it turns out!

Hope it all goes well
Antonia

I got a response from the MidSouth Pug Rescue the morning after I filled out the online app. We went back and forth with emails till I guess they were interested enough to want to meet.

They have a little guy named Bruno, about 3 years old, they wanted to bring by. The people who are giving him up said he had "eye issues", but they didn't have any details. There is a local veterinary ophthalmologist who helps them out by donating his services who will be seeing Bruno in the next few days to see what's going on with him.

I realized, when the rubber was getting ready to hit the road, it's a bit too soon for me to do this and told them I need a little more time. Just didn't feel right about having another pug in the house so soon after Otis left. I'll see how I feel about it in about a week.
