Thanks so much for your empathies, my dear friends. I'm going to have to give notice in my current place BEFORE I find a place to live, and that's a very scary thing to do, but if I don't find a place in time, my friends will help.

And Camellia will be properly cared for throughout. Thank doGNess.

Peggy, I think I'll emulate your sister, and do the Epley maneuver three times a day; it will probably help a lot. My eyes are well enough now so I can start doing it once a day, I think.

You are a very very strong woman to be able to come to the conclusion and execute upon it (having to give Camellia up in order to be properly cared for).

I commend you, and shed a tear with you as well. It's not often people can see clearly through the love in their heart - you did it.

Dear Carol

I'm so sorry to read about your multiple challenges and sad that you are having to give up your dear Camellia, although wonderful that you will be able to continue seeing her and that you know that she will be well cared for.

Before we adopted Angus, we discussed the same potential possibility and we were reassured that the Westies in Need rescue would take Angus, and Cleo if she is still alive, and they would readopt them together in another good home.

I recently suffered from acute labyrinthitis, with hearing loss in the left ear. The specialist suggested the Epley exercises which weren't help for me. He then suggested I try the Cawthorne-Cooksey Vestibular exercises.(You can also google it and get the list of some of the exercises) I progressively worked at those exercises and they have been a godsend as vertigo combined with single sided hearing loss was quite challenging, to say the least.

Just a day ago, a friend sent me the link to this article and I will be trying it also

Louise - thanks for the information; I got hold of both! The half-somersault looks as though it would be very effective for BPPV!

Carol what amazing strength and love u have to give Camellia a new home with ur friend.
I know how hard and sad it must be.
Do u think you could keep her with the help of a dog walker?
I would be more than happy to donate some $ to help out with the cost if it would mean she could stay with u if u want?!?
She landed on her paws with u and I know how hard u have worked to over come some of her issues. I would hate to sit back and do nothing if there was something I could do to help out.

I have not been on the forum lately, and just saw this post. I am so sadden that you have decided to give up Camellia, but what an unselfish act, to think solely of her well being. I too, wish I lived closer, so I could help.

Dear friends - and what great friends you are! (Allison, you are NUTs! - you have ENOUGH on your plate; hahaha! And of course, your dogs benefit so much. Alfie seems to be hanging in there - continuing my best wishes).

One never knows how things might suddenly change. I gave notice to my landlord, as he was being slow to give me notice. The next day, he offered me strong incentive to STAY till the house is sold. Well, that could be years. I took him up on it. Result - I do not have to move now, and not for the immediate future, most likely.

But I couldn't hang onto Camellia any longer; I was not meeting her needs - and we transferred her this past Saturday, 22 Feb, to the Parrot Lady (Marg).

Well, Marg knows behavior, and with her attentive attendance, the parrots and Camellia are getting along fine. And Marg is taking Camellia for walks, too.

I began walking Sunday, and pushed it a bit hard for the first day after THREE MONTHS without walking. Realized I should have started a bit lighter - sure enough, I'm really feeling it on Day 4, though I walked each day, somewhat less. I'll do my walking in town today, because I'm going to do my shopping a day early. Then -

Camellia is coming to visit (that will feel strange!) for five to six hours, later today - afternoon through early evening. Marg has her Big City day every other Wednesday, so Camellia and I will have some time together today. That will be fun.

It's a great arrangement. When you've lived with dogs essentially non-stop for 40 years (the exception for me was after Kumbi died; it took me two months to find Camellia) - you REALLY NOTICE IT when you don't have a dog right there with you!

I gotta say, walking without a dog around here is a lot less hazardous than walking with one; I've seen numbers of loose dogs, badly-handled dogs, and so forth just in the last few days. Also I've been able to chat with other walkers, some of whom have become great friends over the years.

Probably I'll continue to feel heartstrings stings! over and over, but one gets used to these things in time, and the joys of visiting with Camellia will surely override those before too long.

And, too, I tell ya - Marg's stories (over the phone) of how Camellia and the Main Parrot (Mr. Cozy) are doing give me the greatest joy! Yesterday I laughed so hard that Camellia suddenly piddled - she must have heard my typical hilarious laugh over the phone! Needless to say, that ended the phone call, and Marg rushed Camellia outside!

I'm still tapping sometimes on (Pan)TamAnya, my amazing SPb-Pantam Kurd 9 handpan, and hope to play more in just over a week, when my cataract surgery restrictions will be lifted, assuming all is well with my eyes.

You are so fortunate that you have Marg, that can share Camella with you. What a great friend.

Change.... sometimes it is good... so focus on the good changes that you are doing. It was great that your landlord talked you into staying. Too many changes at one time.... take it slow.

Carol, how wonderful that you don't need to move now while you are still recovering. Take it slowly with that walking too, but great that you can get out and about.
