So sorry to hear about your loss. It's never an easy decision but you did the right thing for both of you.

Myriah Luna, 10 month old Great Dane, diagnosed around 12 weeks. Insulin is Novalin N. Blue Wilderness adult large breed salmon recipe with tuna, salmon or egg. Treats are carrots, green beans, and broccoli.

Thank you all for your kind words.
I couldn't sleep last night at all, because I couldn't hear him snoring near by. I can't bring myself to put away his food and water dishes, or put away his toys. I keep bursting into tears when I realize he's gone (which is easy to do in an empty house). Everything just seemed to happen so fast. One moment he was happy, doing his thing, and right by my side; and the next I was giving him one big last hug, letting him know he didn't have to fight this stupid cancer anymore. To you new members of the forum, know that you have found a wonderful group of people and that can help you and your fur babies live with diabetes. Bazzle and i lived with his diabetes for 3 1/2 years, and 3 of those years were happy and comfortable with no problems. Can I get a moderator to change this thread to "Bazzle - cerished companion from 2002-2016" Thanks again. I'll probaby keep popping in to check up on everyone, and offer any opinions and advice I can give.

So sad to hear this, Audrey. You, and yours, have my deepest condolences, ... Godspeed to Bazzle.
Took me quite a while before I could bring myself to put Otis' stuff away. I sure do, as well as most reading your post, know how you're feeling. It's only because it was so good, and worthwhile, that we grieve so deeply when they leave.

Oh, Audrey - I am so shocked. I am so sorry but I guess it was his time and he let you know. He didn't have to suffer and you gave him the best life and had such a special connection. I know you are heartbroken.

Audrey, I'm so sorry to read about Bazzle! It was certainly quite evident how much you loved each other. This is the hardest part about having these furry creatures in our lives.

I am sorry sorry to have logged on and read your post. Your last days with Bazzle, reminded me of mine with Abby. Cancer, irradiated blood sugar, and then her tumor ruptured as well. Like Bazzle she was ready. Bazzle was a lucky pup to have you in his life. You will always carry him in your heart, and one day you will meet again. Hugs, Barb

I'm so sorry for your loss.
It's never easy, even when we know it was their time. As far as putting away his toys and things, take your time. There are still some things of Piper's that haven't been put away. I just threw away her insulin a few weeks ago, and that was more because my mom forced me to than me actually being ready to.
