(Whispering) I think it's been four mornings that I've been ALLOWED to stay in bed until 6:15. She has also finished her meals the past 4-5 days.

I think she is planning something BIG to drive me crazy.

I never once worried with any small details with Maggie. Well, every once in a while. Occasionally. Once a week maybe or was it once a day. Or all day, every day. All the details of every little thing. Why is she eating the wet food last? She always eats it first. Is it me or is her blood like not the right color..shouldn't it be redder? Why is she laying on her right side? She never does that. Did the groomer cut her second toenail on her right side too short? Is that causing her sugar to go low? Maybe it is that blanket. She hates that blanket. I had things that I would dwell on - crazy things.

The last year or so was a bit different. I think I had a better understanding of just how old she was getting and the instability was part of it. Add in dementia and I got to the point that as long as she wasn't agitated and she would eat, then I was happy enough.

Glad she is letting you sleep.

We have one VERY mad pup in the house!

Annie hasn't been to the You-Wash dog washeteria(?) in awhile, so it was time. We fibbed to her, saying we were going to the nearby Dairy Queen to get her a little cup of soft-serve ice cream. I think she sensed when we drove past Dairy Queen and started to get nervous. When we got out of the car in front of the You-Wash, she let everyone know her displeasure. How can a bath for a 19 pound, 15 year old, blind dog require two people??

Got home and she tested 101 (failed to do a pre-bath blood test). Gave her a doggie treat and all is well in Annie's world

No, we all were too tired from the fight, and wet, to stop. I might go out later by myself (Annie would likely refuse to get in the car) and bring home an ice cream treat for her.

It's 100 degrees here today, nearly 20 degrees above average. Annie is napping and I'm thinking I might do the same.

I didn't think you guys got that hot up in Portland. Arkansas has actually been in the 80's and raining the last week. It never rains in August here. The yard is like a jungle - usually the yards are dead from the drought.

Get that baby her ice cream.

Strange weather all over this year. We had a record cool July without a single 90 degree day. Then comes August with 90's and several 100s. Many folks don't have A/C, but we do. Monday is forecast to have only a high of 79, but high 90's Thursday-Sunday. No rain in the forecast, so the forest fires will continue.

Yea, a Dairy Queen run later this evening is being planned.

Just a little Annie update.
Her diabetes and meals have been great the past 3 weeks. Only one reading outside 100-225, a 270ish after we shared a bit too much pizza crust? She has also been eating 99.9% of her meals, only leaving 1-2 pieces of kibble or "crumbles" of canned food. I think she just doesn't "see" the food (blind). Besides, she will usually go back to her bowl after the injection and hunt for the last morsels, even if there aren't any.

You would think I'd be happy and stay the course . Tonight I changed the ratio of canned & kibble (decreased canned & increased kibble) just for the fun of it.
