I might even project a complete curve be done before insulin therapy begins . The reason is the staring dose and what to begin with . If numbers are lower maybe 300s or lower across the board you may want to start with a lower starting dose . Jesse was one of those dogs that needed a dose lower than the normal stating dose which was an obstacle to her regulation .

Good points jesse girl.

Lily’s undiagnosed hypothyroidism really threw a monkey wrench into her regulation. We lost several months and she almost lost her life because of it.

MikeMurphy - I did a search for Nulo cod and lentils and you came up. I know you switched back to Merrick because you were seeing higher fasting numbers , but can you tell me if you saw a food spike with the Nulo? Bigger or smaller as compared to what you saw with other foods?

She was getting 3 units of R and 13 units of N while eating Nulo. She definitely was having a food spike with Nulo, but the R compensated for it. See her curve below.

I really liked the ingredients and the protein and fat %. Seems like it should work well for a diabetic dog. It does have a moderate fishy smell.

Mine doesn’t get R anymore on the levemir so I was looking for something with less of a spike than her current Wellness Core that has potatoes.

LOLA..Can you give an update on how the Levemir is doing??? I have about had it with Vetsulin!!!

I posted an update in Lucy’s thread here. It’s def not perfect, but I think it’s an improvement... except for a killer food spike.

Just checking in with an update. Lily is doing well, but slowing down now that the warmer weather has finally arrived. Our walks are shorter and less frequent.

I had to increase her insulin a bit. She’s now getting 13.5 units of Novolin N and 3.5 units of R.
