My little puppy: Born 3/1/97, diagnosed with diabetes 2002, cataract surgery in 2005. Gone back home to God 12/19/14, but forever in my heart.
Sadder still is the vets who think it's okay to do that strictly because the dog has diabetes. We still see a few people who live in very rural areas where the vets are mainly livestock oriented who still think you should put down an animal with diabetes...
Shelby is heading into month 3. She turned 7 two days ago, although she still acts like she is two. That's a whole nother story though.
I remember when the vet told me. He was rather serious when he said he has diabetes. He always calls her he. I think he may have been somewhat taken aback by my reply. I said ok let's deal with it (daughter type 1, wife type 2). He never mentioned option 2 which was never an option in our minds.
