Max is doing well! He sleeps a lot (at nearly 13, exactly what I would expect), eats well, poops are perfect and urine came back as expected; slight ketonones.

Max finished his 30 day antibiotic treatment with flying colors! I still hate ticks from the bottom of my heart…
I had to leave him for 10 days for a business trip and he did phenomenal, although made sure I knew upon my return that dad’s care giving was acceptable, but less perfect than mine! LOL
Yep, he’s a mommy’s boy for sure!

So many things can be a cause . Most times it will run its course and return back to normal . Now a new medical issue maybe exposing itself through high sugar like infections and inflammation . Once regulated doesn't mean you won't have pot holes in the roads . Maybe you can determine other symptoms are being displayed
Jesse-26 lbs - 16.5 years old ,11 years diabetic, one meal a day homemade and a vitabone snack . 3 shots of Novolin( under the Relion name ) a day . Total insulin for a 24 hour period is 6.5 units of NPH insulin .

I have to make an annual appointment with him. They will do more bloodwork and I’m thinking I may do a T3/4 for him. Due to Lyme disease,he’s been on antibiotics for a month, so I doubt infection is the culprit.

We’re limping along… We went to the vet a couple of weeks ago for his annual and as I’ve had to increase his insulin, she suspected a UTI. We did a catch in the parking lot and it came back with some “strange” bacteria and to confirm it was from his bladder and not from cross contamination, we are scheduled for a sterile catch directly from his bladder on Friday, so we shall see how that goes…
He will be 13 next month, but so far he’s still loving rolling in the grass, although doesn’t do much else, so we shall see what the new labs say about a possible UTI. Thanks for asking!
Senior dogs can be very special . Yes they are not the same dog when they were young full of energy but their is a sweetness in their nature and when they do have a role in the grass it's a joy to watch . Utis are common with diabetic dogs but my Jesse seemed to avoid them . Hopefully you get it figured out soon and get back on the regulation train

His $300 culture came back fine. No weird bacteria, thankfully,
we are now dealing with hearing loss and this is A SCARY place to be with a blind dog…

My Jesse got dog dementia in her latter years . Not easy getting old but Jesse with all those problems she still lived her life and in the moment she had no fear until the very end when I let her go . Dogs are very adaptive animals . Yes we have to change the way we see them but there is still allot of joy with that .

They did increase his insulin, but I haven’t done a true curve on him since due to extenuating circumstances…
He turned 13 today! He spent his first birthday on a transport coming here, but has been here to celebrate the last 12!
