Thanks everyone! Today, on Thanksgiving, I am thankful for all of my Bridge kids who came together to put Lucy in my life… She’s a bratty puppy, as I expected, but she has so many traits of all my Bridge kids, but yet is her own self, if you know what I mean? It took just 3 days to house train her, and she’s totally trained - hasn’t had an accident in weeks!

She gets spayed next week and Ace Lobo is totally in love with his new little sister! It couldn’t have worked out any better! Except, I am tired… LOL

So I’ve completely lost my mind and just adopted another Corgi on Monday. We named her Lucy as she has a total red head. She is 7 months old, a puppy mill rescue who was about to be euthanized. Incredibly, like Max, she LOVES ice cubes! She’s very sweet, but a lot of work as she’s not housebroken, but we are in love! I just know Max sent her to me… Thanks little buddy!

Thank you. He didn’t quite make it to 14 - That would have been next month.

i picked up his ashes today and as expected, bawled my eyes out… He’s in our curio cabinet now with his house mates who have gone before him.

I'm so sorry for your loss of Max. I didn't read alot of your journey through diabetes and can only say that I've been there. Letting our fur babies go on ahead of us is so very difficult. You provided Max with the best care he could have and all the love in your heart.

Lend me a pup made me cry, but it was a good cry as it’s so true! And I’ve never read it before.

Jessie girl, I think you are so right about routines as caregivers. We immerse ourselves in their lives and it so hard! We had our routines. Hubby fed his big, but younger brother, Ace, while Max was my charge… Not having to cook, feed and give him insulin is hard to comprehend! Ace’s diet comes out of a bag, while Max’s was much more complicated, but worth every moment I spent doing it!

Hubby is at a Wake this afternoon, so I guess I’ll be feeding Ace. It’s just too easy to scoop kibble out of a bag, but I’ll take the opportunity to bond with him, and he’ll end up taking a piece of my heart with him too…

My son's family had to let go of their cat just recently and I gave her a can of sardines to eat as a parting meal . She so enjoyed it . You pups final meal sounds like a very enjoyable meal . I think it can be a bit more difficult for us caretakers because we are so involved in their care and the structure that comes with it . You did such a wonderful job caring for your pup .

He went very peacefully… My heart is broken…He was ready, I was not… Humans are greedy about the time we have with them, but they are just happy for the short time they have…
he ate steak and eggs for breakfast and a bowl of chocolate ice cream for lunch! Best day ever, mom!

We’ve decided to let Max go to the Bridge tomorrow. I have a vet coming to the house.

My mom passed 6 months before I let Jesse go and me a Jesse spent a month with her on hospice . It was a tough time with jesses dementia and mom drifting away . Letting go is the hardest . We hold on not for them but for us because we will miss them .

Prayers to stay strong and know when it's time to let go .
