  • This is such great news that the surgery is over and done with! For sure, you’ve got to feel so relieved — we do, too! Now I’ll be keeping all fingers crossed that her recuperation goes smoothly and she can finally truly get back on her feet once again. Please keep the updates coming.

        • Thank you for all the well wishes! They were warmly received.

We're back from having her stitches removed today. I probably should have done it myself. If I had done it myself at home I would have done it in stages. Because I came home and a section didn't look as though it was closed to me so I put a couple more staples there. I'll keep an eye on it. I figured I'd let the experts handle it but I guess I shouldn't doubt my own skills at this point. I was hoping to get some advice on the vitamins I was giving her and if they were worth the money or a waste of time but I didn't have any opportunities for banter.

Since her surgery, she's been doing well in terms of jumping, running and having a blast outside. Her blood glucose has been up and down, 379 one day and 179 the next. I'm upping her to 12 units and will see how that goes.

It's expecting to rain for several days this weekend so that will give her some time to rest inside and heal a bit more before she does any more running and jumping outside.

          Update:

I took 2 more stitches out that were not cut and pulled a few more out that were cut but hadn't been pulled out.

                  • She's still doing well. She injured her toe and I thought it might have been a tumor so I took her into the vet just to make sure, with all the cancer she had removed in the past I wanted to be sure. I raised her insulin to 16.5 and her trilostain to 50. She and I have been waiting patiently for spring. She's a little overweight so she's on a smaller food plan and hopefully more exercise this summer. I will share some more pictures this summer.
