She's still doing well. She injured her toe and I thought it might have been a tumor so I took her into the vet just to make sure, with all the cancer she had removed in the past I wanted to be sure. I raised her insulin to 16.5 and her trilostain to 50. She and I have been waiting patiently for spring. She's a little overweight so she's on a smaller food plan and hopefully more exercise this summer. I will share some more pictures this summer.

This is such great news! We’ll surely be hoping that *everything* will be much smoother for you both from this point onward. Big hugs to little Bear!Originally posted by Zoology1603 View PostI took the last 3 staples out that I put in and everything looks good. Thank you for all the well wishes! They were warmly received.
We're back from having her stitches removed today. I probably should have done it myself. If I had done it myself at home I would have done it in stages. Because I came home and a section didn't look as though it was closed to me so I put a couple more staples there. I'll keep an eye on it. I figured I'd let the experts handle it but I guess I shouldn't doubt my own skills at this point. I was hoping to get some advice on the vitamins I was giving her and if they were worth the money or a waste of time but I didn't have any opportunities for banter.
Since her surgery, she's been doing well in terms of jumping, running and having a blast outside. Her blood glucose has been up and down, 379 one day and 179 the next. I'm upping her to 12 units and will see how that goes.
It's expecting to rain for several days this weekend so that will give her some time to rest inside and heal a bit more before she does any more running and jumping outside.
Update:
I took 2 more stitches out that were not cut and pulled a few more out that were cut but hadn't been pulled out.Last edited by Zoology1603; 05-13-2023, 02:19 PM.

This is such great news that the surgery is over and done with! For sure, you’ve got to feel so relieved — we do, too! Now I’ll be keeping all fingers crossed that her recuperation goes smoothly and she can finally truly get back on her feet once again. Please keep the updates coming.

She's out of her tumor removal surgery today. She gets to come home the same day. More antibiotics. Can't wait to get her back home and never need to worry about any more health surprises down the road.

Well glad part one has been resolved . It may have been good not to do both parts at the same time with what you had to deal with keeping the wound closed . Yeah it's got to be uncomfortable. Hope for some relief while waiting for surgery and hopefully after that will be smooth sailing .

After having to re-staple her wound a couple more times myself, her wound is now heeled and the bandage is off. Her wound was in such a tight skin spot it was hard to keep it closed. I'm glad I purchased the stapler and I think I'll buy another to have it on hand. After the bandage came off she was happy and energetic for a few days until yesterday. Her mammary tumor has swelled up and is hurting her. So we are back on antibiotics and awaiting her next date for surgery in a couple of weeks to have it removed. The vet thought about removing it on her previous surgery but decided not to. Let's hope she can make it through yet another surgery. Right now she's eating very little and feeling very lethargic. She had the bandage wrapped around her in such a way that it was also covering her mammary tumor. I wonder if this led to it becoming worse in some way. I hate giving her more Cephalexin (this will be her third round) but if her tumor is inflamed this might help her make it until her surgery date. It appears to be about the size of 2 golf balls side by side.

I took her bandage off today and it's looking good. No open wound. She's been trying to act like she is normal and I keep having to remind her to slow down and take it easy. That's Blue Healers for ya.
Followup for the talk of supplements above:
She is currently taking Eye Support, Mushroom Complex, Turmeric, Nutramax Cosequin. The Coco and Luna brands were the cheapest option available, if they actually contain what they say they contain in them. I stopped them all prior to surgery but she's started them up again. I also started her on a probiotic while she is taking her antibiotic. Saccharomyces Boulardii was recommended to be the best alongside an antibiotic. If these supplements aren't doing anything for her health I'd love to stop them as it can be a pain to prepare her meals every day. But there is no magic 'is it helping' lab report you can go by.Last edited by Zoology1603; 03-29-2023, 11:54 AM.
