  • Preventing Snowball Legs?

We have really heavy snow - much more than we are used to here and while Alfie is loving it my wee schnauzer Skye is not impressed.
All the snow sticks to the hair on her legs forming big snowballs which make it near impossible for her to walk very well so she is miserable.
I dont really want to shave all the hair off her legs and she will not tolerate wearing any sort of clothes.
Does anyone know if anything I could put on her legs to stop all the snow sticking to her?

Clinging plastic wrap does seem a really good idea! Allison, do let us know how that works out!

                Re: Preventing Snowball Legs?

I have abandoned even trying now as the snow is so deep the both dogs are really struggling. Its almost up to Alfie's head!!!!
I have cleared a "path" in the garden for them but thats as far as they and me are willing to go.
Took me 45mins to dig my car out to get to work. Its turning in to a total nightmare. We normally only get a few centimetres of snow at the very most each year but we have a bout 14inches of the bloody stuff now with no signs of it stopping

                  Re: Preventing Snowball Legs?

I feel for you Allison. The first year we were in NY the snow just kept falling without a melt in between. It wound up as high as the top of our picnic table!

It took me well over an hour to dig paths in the snow for Ali to walk and potty and she's a large breed dog!

Hope you get some sunshine to melt some of it for you soon!

                    Re: Preventing Snowball Legs?

Thanks Patty, I think the whole country is hope for a melt
Its really frustrating as Alfie's bg is much higher with him not getting walked. If I do try and walk him the huge effort its taking to get anywhere drops his bg way too low.
Just when we were getting somewhere after him being unwell a couple of weeks ago now we have this.
I just want to catch a break sometime soon
