Chia seeds for a diabetic dog

My husband has researched this, and apparently chia is good for human diabetics in their control of blood glucose.
Has anyone used this for their dogs?
My husband even went out to WholeFoods to buy some for Harry, but I am not too sure.

Never gave then to Tiggy but I tried them myself and the little gel stuff they turn into would get stuck in my teeth....couldn't get used to them and the comercial for Chia Pets kept running through my mind LOL

I've never used them with a dog but I know a human who had loose bowel issues swears by them.

I use them for hydration during long runs-or just fro teh fiber alone- helps in weight loss too I use a tbsp to 1 quart water
The Aztecs used them as a diet staple for hydration and fuel
Not sure about dogs though

I think it was that barefoot running book that gave my husband an idea.
Chia seeds has calories - until I get Harry's Trilostane and insuling dosages correct, I am not going to introduce another variable.
