    Hi all,

Sorry been having computer problems ending in having to do a complete system restore. I had something blocking me from getting on the internet - real pain.

anyway. Although Dazzle's fasting numbers are still climbing a bit, her peak time BG is still very good (today 5.7 - 103) so I definitely won't be upping her dose just yet. Have kept the vet informed and he has said to leave as things are for another week and just keep an eye on things.

      Jan,

Sorry to hear you had to do a restore--what a pain!

Agree with one and all that Dazzle should "stay put" with her insulin dose for now while you watch and see.

        Thanks Kathy,

It's the THIRD time in 4 months I've had to do this. Not the same reason each time though. I backed up my data to an external hard drive using windows backup and now it won't let me restore it! Sort of defeats the object really doesn't it? I'm hoping that I can get it sorted as there was so much I wouldn't want to lose.

Dazzle still doing OK. I've given her a day off blood tests today. LOL

With that peak time of 103 I'd say that is pretty good, good job !

              Hi Margaret,

as well as me being poorly, my computer was as well! I did get your email and did reply but I was having terrible problems getting on line at the time so it may have disappeared into the ether somewhere.

Read your post and went over immediately and backed up my critical files!! I invested in a portable hard drive so it doesn't take too long.

I bought one when I had a similar problem last November. Luckily, I am paying a monthly fee for hardware and software support and they rescued my data but they had the laptop for over a week and I HATE being without it. Totally addicted. I have a scheduled weekly backup now which is done automatically.

                    Update on Dazzle.

Well, it's a month tomorrow since Dazzle was diagnosed - it feels as though it's much longer than that though.

In the main, I'm very happy with how things are going but I do have one question. Her morning fasting BG's are quite high still - anything from 14 - 19 (254 - 345) but her peak time and even her evening fasting time tests are good (5 - 9) (91 - 163).

Does this mean that she might do better with another unit in the evening?

I wonder why the difference too - is it because they use less energy (therefore glucose) during the night?

I've got to chat to my vet about her again in the next day or two so I'll mention it to him as well of course.

Just an off topic question. When I set my signature up, it wouldn't let me put in more than a few words. How do you and others get all the extra info into your signature?

Re: New Member Jan with Dazzle

Sometimes they do need a different dose evening and morning - exactly as you mentioned - the activity level is very different.

Might check the BG into the evening first to make sure that she's not potentially dropping low in the evening, causing higher BG the next morning. She's starting out with a lower premeal blood sugar so it's possible that the evening dose drops her too far from that lower starting point. You should be able to get a pretty good idea by checking her BG for three or four hours into the evening to see if it's dropping sharply.

I will check on your signature question... I don't think it depends on how long you have been a member but will take a look at the settings. I usually have to log in as a regular user to see what you're seeing.

I know there is a limit to the words, did you keep typing so its all on one line, then when you save it it will appear like 2 lines like my one below. I use the small font also if its there I can't remember.

Ok I looked at mine, what you see below is not how it looks in the signature box you are creating, you keep typing with no returns, it will let you know if too many characters. Hope this helps.

Once again, apologies for not being around for a couple of days. One of my 9 month old Selkirk Rex kittens dislocated her "wrist" joint on Wednesday evening and it is so bad that she is going to have to have the leg amputated tomorrow. Can't believe this has happened. She was going to be a breeding/show girl. Still she will stay here with me for the rest of her life now.

Anyway, I'll give the signature another try. When I did try to put in more details, it just told me I'd used too many letters the first time.

She seems to be doing OK on the new dose but I will check that mid-evening level tonight just to be sure.
