I was wondering, have you noticed a difference in brands of Syringes?

Currently I am using UltiCare U-40 Pet Insulin Syringes - 29G 1/2 cc 1/2 inch for Pepper; when I started giving her injections I was using Monoject Syringes in the same size. It seems to me that the UltiCare Syringes are not as sharp as the ones by Monoject.

It is really noticeable the difference in pressure required to penetrate her skin, in fact, I have about 80 UltiCare
Syringes left but I ordered more Monoject's.

Has anyone else experienced this? What other brands are recommended? Whenever I do a search it seems as though EVERYONE carries
UltiCare, so there does not seem to be a lot of choices out there.
    Thanks,
    Terry

That's one of the minor problems using Vetsulin. You are basically limited to the brand of syringe because only a couple of companies make U-40 syringes.

When Annie was using Vetsulin we always used UltiCare because that's what the vet clinic carried and I wasn't into online buying at that time.

I use the SureComfort U-100, 31G, 3/10cc, 8mm from ADW. They were the ones I originally got from the vet. The one time I ordered and ADW didn't ship as fast as they normally do (it was over a holiday), I got a bag of the Relion brand to hold me over. The Reliom brand definitely felt different. I prefer the SureComfort, but a lot of people here use the Relion ones.

I've never used the Monoject syringes for insulin, but the needle-less ones the vet gives me to dose medication with are Monojects, and I really like them. ADW carries Monoject, but it looks like only U-100. I might buy a box next time to compare to the Sure Comfort.

we like the same brand Mandy does. The sure comfort. We've tried them all. Walmart, Walgreens, BD, some random ones. but Barb (Abby's Mom) sent us some of the sure comfort after Abby passed away and I think they hurt less.

        We get the smallest ones.

Here is one link. They are sold in a few places though http://www.totaldiabetessupply.com/i...ch-100-bx.html

We have to remember the discussion was about U-40 syringes for Vetsulin

You know, I think I'm going to try some of the thinner U-100 syringes. I found conversion charts on-line and they all indicate that you multiply by 2.5 when using a U-110 syringe with Vetsulin.

True. Just be sure whenever you discuss your dosage you state in units and not where the plunger rests in the syringe. Also, any insulin increase / decrease needs to take the 2.5 factor into account.

Sounds good, thanks! Maybe they'll get off their butts and start marketing 30g and 31g in the U-40 syringe one of these days; I see you can buy them in INDIA!
