  • Kinostat drops to prevent cataracts in diabetic dogs

Hi everyone I've just found out about these drops that help to prevent cataracts in diabetic dogs. I think it's currently a clinical trial in the U.S at the moment. Has anyone heard or know about it?

Yep! My dog was enrolled in this clinical trial. Though he ultimately passed away from pancreatitis, his eyes showed absolutely no sign of cataract formation, even though his diabetes was poorly controlled. I don't know whether they are still accepting dogs for the study - I actually thought that the eye drops would be on the market by now. I would highly encourage people to check this out and get their dog enrolled if possible.
Sparky Love, diagnosed March 5, 2014. Enrolled in Kinostat study to prevent cataract formation. Pancreatitis June 16, 2014 - hospitalized for 6 days in the ICU. Went to the Rainbow Bridge June 23, 2014. I love you very much, baby.

I had never heard of this, here is another lin with a little more info

If I remember correctly, one of our senior members participated in this study, but I can't remember who. They will probably chime in later on.

It is not available now, I do give mine Macuguard, c/w Axtaxanthin as it is high in lutein and other ingredients that also help with cataract prevention.

My Golden Retriever has gone through the trials of Kinostat. She has been a diabetic for 3 1/2 years, and has been on Kinostat that entire time. We caught the disease very early.

My dog 3 1/2 years later still has perfect vision. Even her regular vet is amazed she still has her site.

Kinostat is a miracle drug! I see on the internet so often owners discussing how their dogs went blind because of diabetes.

I want to thank the researchers that developed this drug!

LeeMedic, that is AWESOME to hear!!!! My Sparky Love was enrolled in the trial as well. Though he ultimately passed away from pancreatitis, he retained perfect vision the entire time. Kinostat IS a miracle drug.
