Yeah their maybe not allot you can do especially if this is temporary as Bruno can return to a sense of normalcy after healing . The combination of the medication and the bodies response to the situation may create some resistance with higher sugar. Now numbers in the 300s probably wont have any affect on brunos health . Remember if you raise the dose in response to a medical condition raising blood sugar when that condition ends insulin needs may need to be lowered
If it becomes more of a problem you maybe able to add a fast or short acting insulin temporarily to correct higher sugar but this is not a regulation process but just a short term insulin therapy till the episode has cleared . Leaving the everyday normal dose at the exiting amount when regulated makes it a bit easier . Instead of lowering the dose you just remove the fast acting insulin
Like i said 300s are not terrible and a dog can deal with that most times
Jesse-26 lbs - 16.5 years old ,11 years diabetic, one meal a day homemade and a vitabone snack . 3 shots of Novolin( under the Relion name ) a day . Total insulin for a 24 hour period is 6.5 units of NPH insulin .
