So The simple question is what else would be a source of the Blood Glucose if food intake and exercise are held steady?
Does the meal portion really vary as much as 1/2 oz? My electronic food scale measures to 1/10 oz (at least the readout shows .1). So I figure my weighing is well within .05 oz (1/20th oz). Annie's meals are 2.0 oz, so 1.5 or 2.5 would be a pretty big difference from her normal 2.0 oz serving. Not really sure it would make that much difference though.

The other common things that might affect blood glucose are infections (UTI, ear, eye, etc.), stress, excitement. Years ago our Granddaughter would come to our house after school and play with Annie - that excitement /play seemed to affect Annie's BG, but not as much as you seem to be having. Even now, five years later, Annie perks up when she hears the school bus stopping for other neighborhood children.

Annie was an 18 pound Lhasa Apso that crossed the rainbow bridge on 10-5-17. She was nearly 17 years old and diabetic for 9˝ years.

      oops! that should have read...05oz
SO with all the blood work back and completely Negative We have settle into the following routine.

Her morning and evening injections are being keep the same , which for now are at 9u, The only thing that is different is at 3:30pm I take a BG reading and if it is starting upward and above 250 I give a 2 unit injection and at her 5PM feeding I only give 7 units. So far this has worked to control her high afternoon numbers and at the same time her lows are staying above 125.

      On to other news.

Sadie went off her food and refused to eat anything. After a short talk with the vet and looking for a better way to “spice up” her WD chow I came up with this.

I cooked a skin and fat free chicken breast by cubing it up into ˝” pieces and boiling in a quart of water. Cooked until it was very well done then the whole lot put into a blender. After this was fully liquefied I put it in a squirt bottle and stored in the refer. Feeding time, A couple of sprays of the chicken broth and Sadie never slows down until she is at the bottom of the bowl.

One breast done this way last all week. I will note that sitting overnight produced NO fat on the surface of the broth and no salt was added.

            What the @#$%^&&!!!

For the last two weeks Sadie has been running a little high with her numbers but steady. I knew what to expect in the morning (upper 200's) and in the evening feeding (mid 300's) with an average for the day around 200-250 (total average).

Today she decided to have some fun so these are todays numbers:

            Alpha Confirm
            158... 97 5am
            118... 70 9:30
            89..... 49 11:30 1/2 tsp Karo
            105... 62 12:30
            74..... 49 2PM 1/2 tsp Karo
            142... 100 4PM
            202... 168 5PM
            Average on day 106.......alpha 127....confirm 127
She is back to eating everything in sight And injections have been steady at 8 units but tonight I think I'll have to back off to 5? units

Wow! That's quite a drop! Has anything at all changed? Yes, you should definitely drop her dose, but I'm not sure how far. Hopefully someone else will come along and chime in.

I've not found anything that has changed in the last three or four weeks, amount of food, water, exercise all have nothing out of the norm.

I usually wait to inject when I have gotten those types of numbers. Maggie has had entire weekends without insulin. I would wait a couple of hours before considering any insulin.

I agree, I plan on 6:30 for the injection, If I could keep her numbers from going off the high side it would be great but of course the Lows are the bigger worry.

Still Trying to find a solution to the low high roller coaster...Having tried everything else........ Has anyone gone on a every eight hour routine?

Up and Down, Up and Down, This month has not been boring by any standard!

Started off the month with the Normal for her, highs (400-450) in the afternoon then about mid month we went thru a period where we could give her no insulin at all. For about 4 days she never had a reading over 125 no matter that she was eating everything she was fed? Then just as fast she went back to her normal required amount of insulin. What fun!

Now we are back to 200's for the morning fast down to 150ish during the day then at the 5 feeding she is back up to 400's.
